Marriage of the Di Daughter Chapter 147 Part 1: Master and Servant Palanquin / sedan chair

The snow was very heavy in winter, and at night, the light snow turned to heavy snow, so all the encounters and reunions have the feeling of a travel-worn people returning home on a snowy night.

But amidst the hardship, there were some wonderful and beautiful scenes.

The young girl leaned half of her body out, and her face was stunned for a moment, making her look cute because of her surprise. The young man dressed in red smiled and pressed the handle of the fan against the window. He looked up unhurriedly, his eyes full of emotion.

It’s pure yet seductive and unexpected, like an arrangement in a play.

In the silence, the young man broke the silence. He raised the corners of his lips and asked, “Are you stupid?”

Jiang Li came back to her senses and asked, “Why is the Duke here?”

“Aren’t you going to the Duke’s Mansion tonight?” Ji Heng said with a smile, “I came to pick you up.”

Jiang Li, “…….”

The six words “I came to pick you up” should have been very gentle and have boundless affection, but when spoken by the man in front, there was a creepy and unnatural feeling. Jiang Li said, “Duke, you don’t have to go to such trouble. Actually, just let Zhao Ke come, or I can go myself.”

“Oh.” He said, “I’m already here.”

The person was already here, and it’s not possible to let him leave. Jiang Li sighed and stood up. Ji Heng stretched his hand out, put it on her arm and said, “Jump down.”

Jiang Li stepped on the stool, then stepped on the table, held Ji Heng’s arm, and jumped down from the window. The window was not high, but she was still a little shaky when she jumped down. She subconsciously grabbed the corners of Ji Heng’s robe.

Jiang Li didn’t react until she had stood firm, Huh? Why jump out of the window? She could open the door and walk out, right?

She glanced at Ji Heng again, sighed silently in her heart, and was led away again.

Ji Heng looked at Jiang Li with interest and said, “Your outfit suits you very well.”

Because she was going out at night, Jiang Li couldn’t dress too complicatedly. The woman’s skirt was too long, and she didn’t even wear a cloak. She only wore a plain white cotton-padded jacket that Bai Xue had prepared, gray trousers, black boots, and her long hair tied high behind her head. It was a man’s attire.

Even though she was dressed as a man, in the snow, under the light of the lantern, her facial features became even more tender and charming, with an indescribable freshness.

“Many thanks for the compliment, Duke.” Jiang Li responded. She asked, “How do we get out?”

“Through the back door.” Ji Heng replied.

“Back door?” Jiang Li was startled: “What back door?”

Facts had proven that Ji Heng was much more familiar with the inside of the Jiang residence than she, the second Miss Jiang. After going around several gardens that were not commonly seen on weekdays, there was actually really an existing back door. They did not meet anyone along the way. Although she knew that Ji Heng must have sent away all possible servants that might show up in advance, it was too simple, which gave Jiang Li the illusion that the entire Jiang residence was made of paper and that anyone could easily enter. If the Jiang residence was looted at night, Jiang Li might not be too surprised.

After all, there are no guards guarding the door at night!

Ji Heng took Jiang Li out of the back door practically out in the open.

In the snow outside the back door, there was surprisingly a black palanquin parked. In front of the palanquin, Zhao Ke stood with four bearers. When they saw the two of them coming out, they walked over and opened the palanquin’s curtain.

Jiang Li hesitated. A palanquin was different from a carriage. It was more ambiguous for a man and a woman to ride in the same chair.

While she was still hesitating, Ji Heng calmly got on. After waiting for a long time, he saw Jiang Li didn’t move and asked, “Aren’t you coming up?”

The man spoke in a calm and relaxed manner, as if she was overthinking everything. Jiang Li couldn’t help but wonder if she was making too much of a fuss. But the journey was still far, and if she didn’t ride on the palanquin and walk on the street, she might get into trouble if she was recognized by Princess Yongning’s people. So she could only grit her teeth and go up.

Zhao Ke ordered the bearers to lift the palanquin.

The sedan was as gorgeous and exquisite as its owner, and there was even hot tea and snacks inside, which was hard to enjoy in winter. But no matter what, this was a palanquin made for one person to sit on, so no matter how spacious it was, the distance between Jiang Li and Ji Heng could not be widened.

It could practically be considered intimate.

Ji Heng handed Jiang Li a cup of tea, the tea was warm. Jiang Li took a sip and the chill dissipated a lot. She looked at the snacks on the table and suddenly said, “Did the Duke personally make this?”

At that moment, Jiang Li was certain that Ji Heng’s movement paused for a while and the tea in his hand spilled out.

The people carrying the palanquin outside walked very steadily. The bearers in the Duke’s Mansion must have been carefully selected, no bumps could be felt at all. Therefore, it was absolutely impossible that the tea was spilled because of the jolting of the sedan chair; it was due to her words.

Ji Heng put down the tea cup, took out the snow-white silk, and calmly wiped the tea on his hands. Finally, he looked at Jiang Li and said, “No.”

Jiang Li, “…….”

No then no, the only one who could say ‘No’ as murderously as this was only Ji Heng. Jiang Li suddenly understood why it was rumored outside that Ji Heng was moody. He was originally someone temperamental.

“Who is Hai Tang to you?” Ji Heng asked suddenly.

The topic was changed so quickly that Jiang Li didn’t react for a while. She only heard Ji Heng say, “You were so nervous in searching for her tracks that you didn’t hesitate to ask me for help. You are not afraid that I will peek into your secret. It seems to be very important to you.”

“It is indeed very important.” Jiang Li smiled: “Also, I never thought of hiding secrets from the Duke.”

“Don’t put it nicely, you are the most cunning.” Ji Heng smiled nonchalantly and said, “You know this woman named Hai Tang, just like you knew Qiong Zhi from Xi Hua Lou and Xue Huaiyuan from Tongxiang.”

“I know her.” Jiang Li said, “She is someone who can help me bring down Princess Yongning.”
