My Girlfriend is a Zombie

Chapter 542: Eerie Shadow Behind the Car
The three of them, Guan He, Ling Mo, and Huang Duo, were completely dumbfounded. From the moment they rushed into the hallway until they reached downstairs, they didn’t even get a chance to make a move.
The three girls charged ahead, and although Ling Mo didn’t engage directly, his actions showed he was fighting in a way they couldn’t comprehend.
The battles of mental ability superhumans are inherently invisible to the naked eye. They couldn’t figure out exactly how Ling Mo was attacking, but they could see that every zombie approaching him was inexplicably thrown away.
Compared to their anxiety, Ling Mo seemed incredibly calm…
At that moment, Guan He suddenly realized something.
Why didn’t Ling Mo make an action plan? Because there was no need!
The three of them weren’t even part of Ling Mo’s plan; they were just there to spectate!
With the three girls’ overwhelming combat prowess and Ling Mo’s coordination, they could plow through any obstacle.
“We’re actually being protected…” Guan He thought, tears streaming down his face.
Huang Duo also noticed this and was instantly annoyed.
But despite his annoyance, could he dare rush into that fierce battle just a few meters away?
The zombie’s claws were lethal upon touch. In such a narrow space, he couldn’t guarantee he could handle everything.
On the other hand, the three girls moved swiftly and nimbly. Even though they were trapped among more than a dozen zombies, they advanced and retreated with ease, maneuvering in ways that defied logic.
If one person could do this, it might be explained by superhuman abilities. But if all three could do it…
Huang Duo glanced at Ling Mo and understood. This anomaly was definitely Ling Mo’s doing.
Yet, he still didn’t look favorably upon Ling Mo and even let out a heavy, cold snort.
“Huang Duo, stay by my side later,” Ling Mo suddenly said.
“Oh…” Huang Duo nodded instinctively.
But Ling Mo had already turned and shoved Huang Duo backward.
Huang Duo was caught off guard and stumbled back a couple of steps. His heel hit the step, and he almost fell.
“Damn it! What’s your deal…” Huang Duo was about to lose his temper when he saw a zombie fly backward from in front of Ling Mo and crash at Ye Lian’s feet.
Ye Lian immediately stomped on it, while Xia Na’s scythe slashed, slicing the zombie’s neck and dragging it away.
The zombie’s arms flailed a couple of times but grasped nothing.
“This…”
Huang Duo realized that the zombie had stealthily approached them, attempting to attack.
If it wasn’t for Ling Mo’s quick reaction, they might have been in chaos, possibly even sustaining injuries or worse.
Thinking about how his outburst almost distracted Ling Mo and caused a disaster, Huang Duo’s face turned red with shame and white with embarrassment.
Guan He frowned at Huang Duo but said nothing, though his displeasure was evident.
Xiao Ming, however, shouted indignantly, “Huang-Ge, what are you doing?! Look at the mess you created…”
“What did I do?” Huang Duo glared at him in frustration. “If you keep quiet, no one will think you’re mute!”
“Why so mean…” Xiao Ming muttered discontentedly.
Ling Mo made no comment on the exchange. “Keep up,” he said, and then he was the first to run down the steps.
Guan He and Xiao Ming immediately followed, and after a moment of hesitation, Huang Duo trailed behind.
This time, Huang Duo didn’t try to take the lead. He remained quiet until they all reached the bottom floor.
“That’s about it. The zombies left in the Square have mostly been lured into this building and eliminated,” Ling Mo said.
“Incredible…” Guan He marveled.
Their original plan was just that, but in Guan He’s mind, the best strategy was to defend the Rooftop Iron Door and slowly wear down the zombies.
Alternatively, they could have held the hallway and taken out the zombies one by one as they came up.
But such a direct and violent combat method? Guan He hadn’t even imagined it, much less seen it!
In less than five minutes… In just under five minutes, they had killed nearly thirty zombies.
Are they even human?!
Guan He was in absolute awe of Ling Mo and his team’s combat prowess. No wonder Yuwen Xuan had vaguely told them, “Just follow and learn, don’t be a burden…”
At the time, Guan He hadn’t taken those words seriously, but now he realized that it was practically their mission statement…
“Xiao Ming, watch closely,” Guan He said.
“I am watching!” Xiao Ming replied, his face full of admiration. His earlier boldness in speaking up to Huang Duo stemmed from his admiration for Ling Mo and his team.
“There shouldn’t be any zombies outside now. Let’s move,” Ling Mo called out.
Ye Lian and the three girls led the way as usual. Being zombies themselves, they wouldn’t be a primary target even if spotted by others of their kind.
The zombie that had sneaked around them earlier had done so because of this reason. In the narrow and chaotic space, Guan He and the others couldn’t notice any oddities…
But here, they needed to be more cautious. Ling Mo waited until Ye Lian and the girls were about ten meters ahead before motioning for Guan He and the others to follow.
The building they had descended from appeared to be some kind of office structure, and there was still a considerable distance to the Oil Depot.
From above, the Oil Depot didn’t seem large, but walking through it, it felt quite spacious.
Several abandoned tanker trucks were scattered around the open area, obstructing part of their view.
“Good thing there haven’t been any explosions here, or all the oil would be gone,” Ling Mo remarked.
“Yeah, besides aviation gasoline and jet fuel, there’s also some regular gasoline here. All of it is useful to us,” Guan He began muttering again in a low voice. “I heard that the Falcon headquarters specifically requested regular gasoline. We’ll be helping them collect more from other places later. This stuff has become a non-renewable resource, incredibly precious…”
“What fuel do helicopters use?” Ling Mo asked curiously.
“Aviation gasoline,” Guan He replied. “This type of fuel can be used in aircraft with aviation piston engines, but these are mostly auxiliary types… like helicopters, communication aircraft…”
“Alright, alright, let’s talk about this later.” Ling Mo felt a headache coming on after only listening to a few sentences. He regretted asking in the first place…
Sticking close to the walls, the group slowly made their way toward the Oil Depot, moving as quietly as possible.
Not all the zombies had been lured into the building; who knew if there were still some lurking nearby?
Even if the open area was clear, there were definitely zombies inside the buildings.
Just as the group turned a corner, Xiao Ming, who was at the back, suddenly stumbled and crashed into a parked tanker truck.
The truck was blocking the path, so everyone had to squeeze by it on the side. Xiao Ming, however, hit the corner due to his nervousness.
“Clang!”
The sound wasn’t loud, but Xiao Ming exclaimed in pain, wincing as he clutched his leg.
“What happened?” Guan He quickly turned to ask.
“It hurts…” Xiao Ming groaned, trying to pull himself free but failing.
Ling Mo hurried over to take a look and sighed, “His thigh got cut.”
“What? How could you be so careless!” Guan He immediately grabbed Xiao Ming’s arm, trying to pull him out.
A small spot of dark red blood slowly spread through Xiao Ming’s pants.
At the front, Ye Lian sniffed the air and turned around, looking confused.
At the same time, a pair of dirty feet appeared from the other side of the tanker truck…
“Hurry up!” Huang Duo shouted.
“Slowly, slowly, be careful. There’s rust on this thing…” Guan He whispered.
Ling Mo wanted to help but felt the boy was being a bit clumsy, leaving him speechless for a moment.
However, thinking about how Xiao Bai often got stuck in narrow spaces, he realized Xiao Ming was still smarter by comparison and felt somewhat relieved…
None of the busy group noticed that through the gap under the truck, a pair of feet was slowly approaching.
Not only that, not long after these feet passed, another pair appeared, this time belonging to a female.
The dirty, bare legs were covered in blood and mud, and one foot was missing a shoe entirely.
Both sets of legs moved slowly and silently…
