Cultivation novels are the only thing I can handle, let's just see what this one about...
380 is when this starts to get very good
Part 4: The way the author portrays the marriages that connect the bigshots of each clan together is honestly some of the most novel and intriguing portrayals I've read in a while. The plot also starts thickening (past the 300s anyway) and the world building becomes more fleshed out. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the only reason this book is getting trash reviews is because of the first 300 chapters or so. In fact, if you were to take the latter 600 chapters (as of writing this review, there's 937 chapters) as a stand-alone LN, then you will get yourself an average cultivation book with interesting prospects that could easily bag a rating of 4/5. But alas, due to it having had an absolutely horrendous start, plus the fact that the grammar is sort of subpar especially with the author often mixing up his pronouns, this book will have to settle for a rating of 3.5/5 or 7/10 at most.
Part 3: With all of my rants about how absolutely horrible the first 300 chapters or so were, I can confirm that it does get way better from 300s and onward. I don't know what type of substance the author decided to shoot up but he should definitely do more of that, because the MC finally starts thinking on his own and decides to take matters into his own two hands because he realises he won't be able to get anywhere if he just keeps on depending on his cheat code. He fights his own fights way more often (even though the average amount of fights is still below other cultivation books), and his character becomes more dependable and less naive compared to the beginning. One other that I liked, aside from the author fleshing out the world by introducing a somewhat intriguing plot, is the different inter-relationships between the clans around the MC and how they interact with each other.
Part 2: I was absolutely infuriated reading the MC just being dumbfounded when dealing with situations he could easily have avoided if he'd actually been more attentive of his surroundings (like for god's sake, you're a cultivator, how can you not even notice someone peeking at you from outside your freaking door). Besides, there had been so many situations that could have made him progress his character and mature him mentally if he had gone through them on his own, but no, the author just had to have him use his cheat code (Ling Xi) as a mental crutch. Some people would say that these kinds of situations are fine, since they would help mature him mentally but they never did (at least up until the 300s). Besides that, the world building in the first 300 chapters is a little below average but I've read worse, so it passes. The plot is pretty much non-existent at the start since, for the majority of the first 300 chapters, the MC really has no real goal for getting stronger really.
Part 1: I was contemplating on whether I should write a review for this novel or not, but in the end I decided to do it, so here goes nothing. First things first, this book was absolute garbage up until the 300th chapter or so and I will tell you why. The progression in cultivation levels that the mc went through was absolutely meaningless since he never fought against anyone, for one simple reason: Ling Xi (the higher realm person who gives him his powers at the start). *There's an enemy approaching that could possibly make the story interesting by introducing real stakes or anything to change up the monotony of the chapters* MC: ling Xi, suppress this guy for me while I talk to him as if I was the one who had defeated him. Ling Xi: Okay. This was legit how the first 300 chapters went with almost no change to the flow of the story the book was taking, what with the s*x scenes and the pure stupidity of the MC and how he deals with different situations.
Chapter 98, I give up, I don't know why it has a rating of 4.9 in webnovel
