Probably the most tragic Er Gen protagonist. Su Ming’s determination to pursue the truth is like no other. His dao and mentality is indescribable. A diamond in the rough. What a fantastic novel, this will go down as one of the best novels I’ve read.

Great read overall, definitely one of the better cultivation novels out there, all the plot twists are very good and it makes the novel feel exactly like the title, where you’re trying to find out the truth abt the mc and different side characters lives. The only thing I would warn potential readers abt in this book is that it feels like the world just wants to see the mc suffer and this happens for majority of the novel, so it can get depressing seeing what the mc has to go through continuously, but it is rewarding to see it through to the end. All things considered I would give this novel a 7. 8/10.

The book is technically well written, but if you don't like the first 100 chapters, don't bother reading the rest. Even after 200 chapters the writing is still slow, deep, and somewhat dull. It doesn't get that much more exciting nor does it get that much more interesting. I wanted to read this completely before proceeding on to A Will Eternal for the sake of chronogical order, but I could only force myself to read 500 chapters until I had to stop. At that point it was like trudging in mud.

A life like a fading dream. A desperate struggle against one’s fate. A pursuit of the hidden truths in life. To unravel one’s past to create their own future. That first paragraph was a summary of the vast majority of the book without any spoilers. Er Gen once again makes a fantastic novel, one that is filled with intrigue and ever growing mystery, as we, discover the truths hidden behind the veil of endless veil of lies that we witness slowly unravel during Su Ming’s desperate struggle against his fate. This book has probably the best world building I’ve ever seen. The already masterful world building slowly comes undone to reveal even ever morr masterful world building filled with endless mystery and emotion. If you start this book and doubt that it’s worth continuing DO NOT drop it, the further you make it the more it will entrance you. There are some reviews on this novel from people who didn’t read more than half and I ask you to please ignore them. Every problem you have with the book will slowly be solved in a way that is absolutely masterful.

This novel tells about MC's determined pursuit of the truth, it is a little pessimistic, a little emotional and a little thought provoking, the ending was very good. The only bad thing about the novel is that it repeats itself sometimes, but this does not affect my overall rating of the novel. 10/10

Simply amazing and a great read. Surprised the book has ended for 10 years but still amazing. The book has aged well, i encourage others to read. Definitely a must read.

It's super good, i tell you. It potrays su ming's character and his development over the years, personally what i like the most in his personality is his will and stubborness that it reaches beyond obesession in a good way as it is the only thing that make's him go forward in his dao to see the truth. And it kinda reminds me of it. And i too want to see the truth of why we live and why does the universe exist? I just don't have the strength to do it, I am just a nobody that has no drive and will, That's why su ming is fav char because he encourages me to do anything and will continue to go on my way and my path to see The Truth.

I know understand why people say this is their favorite Er Gen novel. This novel encapsulates Su Ming’s pursuit of the truth, his Dao, and his end. Su Ming’s Dao is his determination and will to seek the truth and to keep his promises. This novel also has a very good ending. Final rating 8. 5/10. What is keeping this novel from being a 10/10 is the reoccurring ‘shocking the world’ chapters every 100 chapters and they last for at least 10 chapters. Take away all of that and you have an amazing xianxia novel, with an amazing plot, an amazing MC, and great Dao comprehension.

this is an absolutely wonderful book. i had started this a bit after i finished renegade immortal (the first book in this series) and i had seen a bunch of references to it in the book as well. i suggest you finish reading renegade immortal before you read the final chapter of this book otherwise there will be a few major spoilers. don't listen to the comments about how the books quality starts to drop after the first arc, the author just changes the pace of the book a bit. this book was worth all of the time that i spent to read it.

A great book, managed to stir my emotions here and there. I have read RI and now just finished this one, and I do truly recommend reading it. I got 500 chapters in untill I gave up, but I re-read it a year later and boy am I happy I did. I'm off to the next novel in the series as soon as I have recovered a bit from the sadness of finishing a book.
I dropped Renegade immortal. Do you recommend this??
