        Swallowed Star is decent but nowhere near as good as Legendary Mechanic. Swallowed Star MC has a very kind and caring personality, personally it didn't feel as if he had a strong drive. Han Xiao was much better.

        Ri? Renegade immortal (A) Reverend insanity (B) . Save B for last . ..read ergen's novels like renegade immortal, outside of time . And some good novels . Reverend insanity is crazy good, you will find everything mediocre after you finish it. Though it takes time to get good but once it does, you will never get bored . Yeah, you can read this now but I prefer Desolate era, it's from the same author of Swallowed star

    I’ve reached chapter 320, where the main character leaves the planet for the first time, and I think I’m about to drop it. Although it’s a high-quality work and I understand why people love it, I just couldn’t get into it. It’s not as exciting and enjoyable as I hoped it would be. The tournament event was especially horrible; the author kept focusing on China and some government stuff, which made it really hard to read. Maybe it’s just not for me, but I would like to know if it gets better later on.

      So those tournament arcs can be fully skipped, I believe the author put them in there for the mandatory Chinese propaganda needed in all their fictional work. Author was smart to make it skippable arcs. Now, in terms of interest I'd give the first space arc a read because it is a bit different from the starter planet arc. It basically sets the tone for the rest of the novel. If you can't get into the novel by the time it ends, I'd just drop the novel, it wasn't written for you then. Nothing wrong with that.

        I also dropped the novel at first a bit earlier than you but the later chapters are very good. You need to witness the rise of Black Star and his domination over the whole galaxy. It gets better and amazing. Also many novels have the issue where ending is bad, but here the ending was good - not rushed. It gets better and it ends well. Just a very good novel.

    Note for newcomers to the book. The chapters where the players fight in the tournament are mainly written to lick the Chinese government and allow the author to gain some social credit. You can skip these chapters without reading them.
